#Characterinterview with Ocean Banks from SIREN COVE by JM Northup @jm_northup

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any character or author interviews from my fellow writers.  So to kick off 2017, let’s meet Ocean Banks from SIREN COVE by J.M. Northup.  Love your name, btw.

Who are you?  What is your name?

Ocean Banks.

Are you a fictional or historical character?

I’m fictional.

What should we know about you?

I’m 17 years old and a native of Seattle, Washington. Both my parents were professors at Seattle Pacific University, who specialized in different aspects of Oceanography. However, I lost my mother during a family outing on the Pacific when I was 7 years old – Megaladon swallowed her whole! As you can imagine, the event shaped the course of my life.

How horrible !  Tell us about your story:  When and where is your tale set?

My story begins in Seattle, WA and ends in the Florida everglades.

What is your personal goal? I mean, what do you ultimately want?

I want to prove that Megaladon exists in order to protect unsuspecting people, but also, to give credibility back to my dad. However, the more I learn about the aquatic world around us, the more I realize we aren’t alone. There are more things out there than just a super-predator!

What is standing in your way? What conflict(s) do you face?

For one, Alex! I don’t care how handsome and intelligent Alejandro Fernandez is, he’s still the proverbial thorn in my side. Despite watching Megaladon kill his father when he tried to rescue my mom, Alex won’t admit the truth. He’s too concerned with building his own career so he won’t associate with anything controversial… except my dad.

Alex has no compulsions about accepting my dad’s help or riding on the notoriety my parents built together, which keeps Dad respected enough to maintain a presence in the academic world. After everything my father’s done for him, can you believe he agreed to spy on us during Dad’s Florida manatee study? Yeah – he reports to the University like HE’S the Ph.D. and Dad’s the graduate student. It makes me sick!

Wow, that sounds like a really interesting story.  How do I get a copy of your book?

It isn’t available yet. It should be out before summer 2017.

When it is released, you can purchase the ebook at www.amazon.com/J.M.-Northup/e/B00KKQVFI0 and the paperback from any bookstore or book vendor.

I’m definitely  checking it out.  In the meantime, to follow up on the process of Siren Cove or to read her other books, you can connect with J.M. Northup at:

  1. Sounds an interesting story. I’ll be looking out for it.

I like the idea of character interviews. I’ve interviewed some of my own characters, but never someone else.

  2. Mari Collier says:

You’ve given your character a huge task. I do hope it is a huge success.
