Meet DM Wolfenden and her new release CARLY

Tell us about your newest release:

I’ve recently released two short stories; they’re over 7500 words so I think the correct term is Novelette. One is a murder Mystery, The Box.

And the other is a Thriller with a psychological undertone, Carly. I’ll talk about Carly.

BLURB: Written in British English, including some slang.

Carly has been through a horrendous ordeal; her cousin disappeared, then her family were murdered in front of her.
She tells the police that James Andres had been stalking her, then he killed her family and kidnapped her, and that she has killed him. However, she refuses to reveal where the body is.
Once in custody, Carly agrees to a meeting with a female reporter, Vanessa St John. Carly insists she tells the whole story in her words. She talks about the dog and the box, but where are the dog and the box now?
Vanessa St John appears to have her own agenda as the tension builds in both of the women seated opposite each other, over a small metal table

What is the story about?

The story is about a young women whose neighbor becomes obsessed with her. The guy has serious mental health issues, and doesn’t see what he’s doing is wrong. Some of his issues stem back to his childhood.
Carly has to fight for her life, and maybe even the life of her cousin, Lisa.

Who is the main character?

Carly, a twenty-year-old women who still lives at home with her mother, and brother.

What inspired this tale?

My sister rented a room from a guy when she was working away from home, he tried to cope with his abusive childhood by believing all the bad things that went on happened to his brother (he was an only child). He went on to stalk a women who worked at the same place as my sister.
There has also been a lot in the news recently regarding psychopaths who kidnap women and hold them hostage, sometimes for years.

Did you have to research for this novel and if so, why?

I didn’t do too much research as I worked on a mental health ward for four years.

Do you relate to your character?

Not really, I wish I was as strong as her.

Is your protagonist anything like you personally?

Maybe, I can have a bit of an attitude if pushed, but mostly I’m shy around new people.

What made you write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell their story?

I can’t really explain it, as soon as I thought about her character and situation; her story just had to be told.

Is there anything specific you want readers to know about this piece of work?

There’s a real twist at the end, (so far), readers have not expected it and seem to love the twist.

Okay, let’s learn more about you, as a writer Who is DM Wolfenden?

She’s quiet and a bit reserved at times, but holds her own in the mainly male dominated world of offshore drilling. Loves animals, tattoo’s and anything horror related (and under no circumstance will she ever reveal her true age).

What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve always loved stories, and making up little tales to tell my son, but I never had the confidence to actually put pen to paper. One night, I was so board I just started to write my ramblings, and it went from there.

What is your favorite book you have written and why?

Carly, I just love her character.

When you are not writing, what do you do to recharge?

Watch films, eat chocolate and spend time with my family.

Are you an Indie Author or are you part of a publishing house?

I’m an indie

Do you read books within the genres you write?

I mostly read horror, but have started to get into mysteries.

Besides being an author, do you have a second job?

Yes, I’m a radio officer on a semi-submersible oil rig.

What do you enjoy most about being an author?

The freedom to express myself.

Let’s meet one of your characters.  Who are you?

Jessie Winters and I’m hopelessly in love with a man that broke my heart.

Tell us about your story:

It’s a modern day tale set in the north of England, United Kingdom
I tell myself I don’t need a relationship, I don’t need the heartache, but ultimately, I want what everyone else wants. To be loved, so I try the blind date, and dating sites scenes with hilarious, disastrous results.
I’m hopelessly in love with a man that broke my heart, who thinks nothing of cheating, and has very little respect for females.

What’s the name of your book and has it been released yet?

Winters Day, expected to be released early in 2016, once it’s with my editor I’ll post the release date on my Facebook page.
