From the title of this blog, you probably think I’ll be talking about grammar rules. WRONG!
I’m actually gonna be delving into culture / political issues. I know, I know. I can already hear people complaining. But this is my blog, I pay for it, so I can speak my mind. If you don’t like it, there’s the way out.

You probably have to be older than the hills to understand this reference. 😂🤣 So let’s jump into the fray.
Are you a BECAUSE this happened to me person, or an EVEN THOUGH this happened to me person? If you’re the first instead of the latter, that’s why our country / society is so screwed up.
A BECAUSE type of person is someone who makes excuses for their actions. They usually feel sorry for themselves and blames everyone else for their problems.
Hey, I get it. When I was a teenager, I used to dwell in self-pity. But back in my day, we were told, ‘Quit feeling sorry for yourself. It’s unbecoming.’ And it is. No one likes people who whine all the time.

This VICTIMHOOD is killing our nation. I deserve this because such-and-such happened to me. My life sucks because such-and-such happened to me. I want to ruin your life because such-and-such happened to me.
Geez, grow up! You bring nothing to the table with all your negativity.
But our current government LOVES this attitude because it’s dividing our country. You know that old saying, Divide and Conquer. Yep, that’s where we are. On the verge of civil war.
So, what about the EVEN THOUGH people?
These are people that no matter what life throws at them, they grit their teeth and keep on moving forward with their lives. No matter how painful, no matter how much suffering. Cuz’ we all know life ain’t fair.

Is it easy? Of course it’s not.
But when you’re lying on your deathbed, looking back at your life, do you want to see all the negativity that you caused? All the people you stole joy from?
Or do you want to be proud of your choices? That when you came to that fork in the road of BECASUSE or EVEN THOUGH, you choose to suck it up and keep on trucking. For yourself and the people around you.
And the greatest thing is, if you are a BECAUSE person, you can change. Changing one’s mindset isn’t easy either. But you can do it. I know you can. Let’s make this world a better place for everyone.
A young man leaves his small village with mysterious strangers on an epic journey.
Life is simple in Ben’s village until an unexpected attack brings the arrival of exciting strangers. Before he understands what is happening, the strangers have recruited his sister to go with them on an adventure. Ben leaves with them to ensure her safety. Soon, they venture into a more dangerous world than he ever imagined. Mages, demons, thieves, and assassins are just a few of the perils they will face on an epic journey to a city shrouded in myth and legend.
As the six volume series unfolds, the stakes get higher, and much more than Ben’s life is at risk. Against the backdrop of warring political, economic, and military factions, Ben and his friends battle a threat to all of mankind. Ben’s knowledge and skill grows, but he must decide if he will live under the control of the unscrupulous leaders who rule the land, flee from them, or break them.
Packed full of action and adventure, Benjamin Ashwood is perfect for fans of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, Michael J Sullivan’s Riyria, and David Estes Fatemarked.
I thought I picked this book up through my KU membership, but it was through Prime instead. And it still is a Prime book.
Like most high fantasy books, this one is a long read, so be prepared. I really enjoyed the world that Cobble invented. The fact a young man who taught himself how to brew ale became the focus of a grand quest. I like Ben and his personality. Coming from a small town, all he’s known is myths and legends about the world beyond their walls. Now, he has a chance to see it for himself. And it’s not what he expected. Is it ever?
I really enjoyed the secondary characters too. Because with a high fantasy, you know you have to have quest companions. Even though I felt like the writing is a bit dull and dry, they were built up enough to get attached to them.
What I didn’t like was the writing. A lot, and I mean a lot of exposition and telling. There were also scenes that didn’t advance the plot, just needless words. However, when I still had over 4 hours left in the book, I read it in one setting. I couldn’t put it down. Then it ended on a cliff-hander. That’s when I found out the series isn’t in KU. Oh NO. I’m not sure if I’ll read book 2, though I want too.
Do I recommend the book? Yes, I do. It’s perfect for people who love fantasy worlds to get lost in, companions to share a laugh or cry with, and a great plot. I give it 4 stars.

When it comes to First Contact, there are no second chances.
Taylor went along for the ride to help her mother survey a new planet, and the offer of a few extra course credits for doing field work certainly didn’t hurt.
A planet on the edge of disputed territory, sure, but the war with the Xathen had ended thirty years ago, and the Commonwealth had won. It didn’t matter that the first survey ship failed to return, things like that happen during wartime.
But this was just term break, with two whole months to work alongside her mother and get to know her better while she sharpened her Xenobiology skills in a verdant paradise.
With any luck, she would graduate early.
But Taylor messed up, big time.
Now she was lost, alone and struggling to survive, stranded ten thousand light-years from home.
Violet
Human Exchange Trade, HET, was my ticket off Earth.Leaving the planet to get away was probably an over correction and impulsive, but I needed a change. And what bigger change was there than to hop on a shuttle to a large spaceship that would take me to an alien host on the planet ASunGor for a year. I get to learn a new culture, fool around with a few hot aliens, and come back to Earth with a better perspective on my life. At least, that’s what I thought, before I rushed the whole thing, and my host wasn’t there to pick me up. Another exchange girl named Evie was heading to the planet Necias Prime looking terrified, and I had time to kill, so what harm was there in taking a detour to make sure she was okay? I mean, my reasons had nothing to do with the sexy alien that had come to escort her.
Commander Roe-el
I was reluctant to leave Princess Klemon’s protection when she told me to escort a human to my home planet for a mating experiment, but in my haste to return to her side, I left without asking the name of the human. When I got to the station… there were two of them waiting, and one of them was making me regret not having tasted a female in years. Her scent did things to me, and I found myself going into rut when it was my job as commander to protect the humans, not screw them. Humans were much too fragile for a necia warrior, but the fire in her eyes made me question my priorities, and I couldn’t say no when she boarded my ship. Everything inside of me needed to claim her, but she needed to say, yes, first.
