YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Mental Health Mentors – Take the Journey with you

A new insight of experience with Mentoring Expert Doug Lawrence

Published by Silver Dawn Publishing and available in Paperback and E-book January 2022.

“You Are Not Alone” came from suggestions/recommendations that I write a book that speaks to how mentoring can bring value to the support structure for mental health. After a rather extensive review of the literature that is out there, I found that there was literature that looked at mentoring and mental health from an academic perspective but not from a practice perspective. That needed to change.

Writing this book providing me with the opportunity to confront some of my demons and to also better understand why I had behaved the way that I did. I realized that I had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and that I had not treated it properly. I had relied on my spouse and two children to provide the support that I needed and yet they had their own trauma in dealing with my behaviour. This book will give you a glimpse into my own story which will help you understand the value that mentoring could have brought me.

“You Are Not Alone” provides you with some insight into the world of mentoring and mental health. I hope that you come to the same conclusion that I did. There is truly a place for mentoring as part of the support structure for mental health. The benefits are many and include; reduced sick time in the organization, engaged employees, less turn over, less stress and anxiety, to name but a few.

I have learned so much in writing this book for you. I sincerely hope that you get the same value that I did and that together we can become part of the support structure and walk beside people that are beginning their healing journey.

Vlada, A Dracula Tale by Christopher Denmead

Vlada, A Dracula Tale

Acclaimed horror writer, Christopher Denmead gives an incredible new take on the legend of Dracula!!

Illustrations by Ken Hunt and a foreword by NY Times Bestseller, Jonathan Mayberry!

We take the entire cast of Dracula and Gender Swapped the cast, Its the classic story with new twists and turns. This is a prose novel. Very akin to Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein with 24 black and white illustrations by Ken Hunt.

Christopher Denmead has both updated and gender-swapped Bram Stoker’s life-impaired Transylvania nobleman. Vlad is now Countess Vlada Dracula, and she is now pitted against a female Harker and -of course – a new take on Van Helsing. It’s both a re-telling of the story and an original take, bringing freshness and a dark sense of fun to a story we only think we know by heart.

It’s a quick read -pause through to drink in the wonderful artwork-and a thoroughly entertaining one. Scary and smart, fast and very furious. It is -pun entirely intended – something to really sink your teeth into.

Turn the page. Take the bite.

Jonathan Mayberry, NY Times Bestselling author of V-Wars, Ink, & Rot & Ruin

The Tattoo Murder by Bob Brill

The Tattoo Murder

A novel with a new direction by Award-winning author and broadcaster, Bob Brill

“The Tattoo Murder” is the story of a U-S Army combat veteran who became a police officer back in his home town after he’d seen enough injustice in the world.

A different kind of cop, Det. John Potenza travels to the tune of his own drum, the waves which he loves to surf, the women who occupy his life and the music which drives him. All this is secondary to getting it right when it comes to justice. An Italian-American who knows his way around the kitchen, the fit and trim with comic book hero good looks catches the eye of almost every woman he meets. If he were British he’d probably be in “her Majesty’s Secret Service” with a Double-O in his name.

Many of the characters in the book are derived from Bob Brill’s own past and acquaintances and friends and while the book is a work of fiction, the people are real – well sort of.

Released and published by Tuscany Bay Books.  The book is available worldwide digitally

Book Trailers – Nay or Yay?

Yay or Nay (@YayorNayapp) / Twitter

I’ve always been intrigued by book trailers.  Some are horrible, others are top of the line.  Almost like a trailer for a movie.  They have actors with narration and cost a LOT of money.

We, at Norns Triad Publications, have talked about updating the book trailers we have on our YouTube channel.  In my case, all my covers have been changed.  Me being me, I raised my hand and said, “I’ll do it.”  So, here I am, learning how to make book trailers.

Marketing classes say that a book trailer is a necessary evil, and they need to be pasted all over your social media sites. I don’t know.  How many people really watch a book trailer?  How many readers buy a book because of a book trailer?  There aren’t any stats to say one way or another.

However, I’m finding that I do enjoy making them.  What I don’t like is that there are so many different video editing sites or programs, and they all either offer or lack features I want.  Right now, I’m using a downloadable program called Animotica and an online editor through Animoto.  I think it odd that they both have very similar names.  Was that done on purpose?

Seems like there are a ton of websites and programs.  Most say FREE, until you actually work with them and all the GOOD stuff is only available with a membership fee.  Even Canva only offers an editing program with a Pro membership.  smh.

Below are two book trailers I produced for Revived by J.M. Northup.

Made with Animotica – paid version
Aminoto – middle paid plan

I like the music in the first video but I feel the second one looks more professional.  It hits the six marks that are supposed to be in a trailer.

What do you think?  If you produce book trailers, which program do you use and like the best?  Please share them in the comments below.
