Featured Book: Between a Witch and a Hard Place (Vanessa Kinley, Witch PI Book 1) by Celia Roman

Posted on January 4, 2022 by Sahara Foley

Twelve years ago, my mother, a powerful chaos witch, walked out on me and my twin brother without a backward glance. We didn’t hear another word out of her until a vampire walked into my brother Nick’s bar wanting me to track her down. She’d disappeared into thin air, and he insisted that I was the only one who could find her.

Of course, I refused. How could I not? Disappearing was Mom’s wheelhouse, and after she’d disappeared on us, I never wanted to see her again.

Then members of the local supernatural community started turning up dead, and Nick was fingered as the suspect. With his life on the line, I had to make a choice: Throw everything I had at finding the real culprit and, maybe, our mother, or be forced to watch while the local werewolf pack tore Nick limb from limb as punishment for a crime he didn’t commit.

The Killer on the Heath Book Trailer

Posted on January 2, 2022 by Sahara Foley

I’ve been stressing over the trailer for The Killer on the Heath for over a month.  For a novella, there are a lot of elements that needed to be added without giving away the story.

I’ve also been trying different video editing software/programs and I just wasn’t happy with 99% of them.  Either they were too simple and missed the exciting elements I needed, or too complex.  This also meant I bought every program.  😆

What I settled on is Movivi Video Suite 2022.  It beats Animoto and Animotica hands down, and I don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use it like Premier Pro.  I hope you enjoy what I created. And, as always, please like and subscribe to our channels.  Thank you. 😍💋

Happy New Year GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHY

The world is looking at 2022 with trepidation since 2021 wasn’t much better than 2020.  Everyone thought we’d be back to our ‘normal’ by now.  Sadly, that kind of ‘normal’ has gone the way of the Dodo bird.

Still, for me, I’m looking forward to 2022, even with chaos rearing it’s head everywhere.  I already gave my early retirement notice at work for October 2022, so that has taken a lot of stress off of me.  And I’m looking forward to expending my energy on Norns instead of a company that sucks my ever decreasing lifeforce.  I want to help our authors and myself.  Who knows, I might start writing again.  We shall see.  Hope you have a safe and Happy New Years.

Posted on December 23, 2021 by Sahara Foley

“A work that couldn’t be more timely.”

Collaboration expert, David B. Savage, brings his business expertise, stories, and processes to the forefront.

“Canadian collaboration expert Savage … offers a work that couldn’t be more timely. While it addresses organizational collaboration, this book could be interpreted more broadly as a treatise on building a cooperative culture within families, groups, businesses, and government. In a collection of concise chapters, Savage leads the reader through a discussion of the meaning and value of collaboration. The author supplements his own experiences over more than four decades with extensive quotes from experts and results from surveys that he conducted; in effect, he collaborated far and wide to garner input for this volume… Highly readable, informative, and well-organized, this insightful work acts as a short-form textbook on the best practices in collaboration. A valuable volume for the senior leader of any group, business, or organization who wants to build a collaborative culture.” Kirkus Reviews

A message from Kristina

If you’ve read my bio, you’ll get a pretty-good sense of who I am even if you don’t know me and you’ve never read my books. However, there’s more to an author than her writing life summed up in one paragraph. I’m here to let you in on the details I left out.

If you’ve read my thrillers, but never met me in real life, you’d likely believe that I’m an introvert. You’d also probably believe that something dark lurks inside of me. Then, you’d meet me in person and your head might just spin around.

We’d talk and you’d see that I’m bubbly, outgoing, positive, and intently engaged in our conversation. I’d look like any other extrovert you’d ever seen. As we chatted, you’d hear me talk about dreaming big, never giving up, and likely glean some inspirational message or positive affirmation from our conversation.

Darkness? Not so much.

Two different people, yes. Nevertheless, we’re one in the same. I assure you, the motivational-speaker-personality you meet in real life IS the real me. So is the introverted, dark girl. We go hand in hand. Not surprising for a Gemini. When you add writing to the mix, it makes for interesting stories.

Confusing? Sure. That’s because introversion isn’t what it seems on the surface. It’s not about being quiet vs. loud. Social vs. antisocial. Friendly vs. shy. It’s about where introverts get their energy from, and the answer is, ourselves. Extroverts, on the other hand, get their energy from other people.

It’s probably why most writers are introverts at heart, even if they feel extroverted in social situations. However, introverts feed off being alone. We’re energized when the door is closed, and only our thoughts and our story (plus some coffee!) remain in the room. It feeds our souls so much that after we write as many words as our fingers can speedily type, we still have the wherewithal to rally with friends. That is, until we inevitably collapse from social interaction.

Because as introverts, we lose our energy around people. We give every ounce of what we have to others until we’re depleted entirely. Therefore, after a conference or a book signing, you’ll find me in my usual restorative place—on the couch binging Netflix, wine in hand…zombified.

For my darkness obsession, it’s real. Sadly, no matter how hard I try to be a kind person and bring those around me up, darkness lives in our world. To cope, I write dark stories to face my fears and triumph, and self-help to focus on my happiness, as is my hope for my readers as well.

Truth be told, darkness has always intrigued me. It inspired my advanced psychology degree, and then my coaching certification. I wanted to learn why people did the things they did, and what motivated them to change, or not. While I’ve made the recent shift from writing dark thrillers to happiness self-help books, my desire to inspire and empower through my writing is at the core of all I do.

I hope my books, whether dark (thrillers) or light (self-help) inspire you to overcome all that’s holding you back so you can live your happiest life, one more in alignment with who you are and what you truly want.

As a writer, it’s all about the two sides of this Gemini: dark and light, in balance.

I’m grateful for all the readers who trust me to pull them through the darkness and into the light. They’re why this introvert writes at all. If you haven’t read my books, I hope my words intrigued you to come over to the introverted, dark side…to find the light!

~Kristina

REBOOTS: UNDEAD CAN DANCE

Posted on December 21, 2021 by Sahara Foley

A SPACE OPERA OF WILD PROPORTIONS BY THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED WRITING DUO OF MERCEDES LACKEY & CODY MARTIN!

Released and published by Caezik Notables, a division of Arc Manor Books!

The book will be available in digital and print!

“Unfettered oddball entertainment.”—Publisher’s Weekly

Say hello to Humph the Boggart, the principled, down-on-his-luck private detective, Skinny Jim the zombie, and Fred the werewolf, in this film noir style space opera.

Humans aren’t alone anymore—in fact, they share a planet with undead and near-dead beings, living in…semi-harmony, depending on who you ask!

This is the world of Reboots—where zombies, vampires, and werewolves live side-by-side with humans, taking whatever jobs they can in order to coexist peacefully. So, what better job to give almost-dead or dead beings, than one that consists of no air, cosmic radiation, and a lack of life-sustaining essentials?

In comes a cast of interesting, unique, and downright paranormal creatures as they travel through space.

Consisting of four parts, Reboots: Undead Can Dance is a space opera destined to become a favorite, written by beloved and world-renowned fantasy author, Mercedes Lackey, and Cody Martin.

Follow Skinny Jim, a zombie who conceals his ability to speak to avoid being exterminated after an ill-fated war launched by a zombie emperor, leading to an alliance between Norms, the Fangs, and the Furs. And then there’s Humph the Boggart, an ethereal parahuman private investigator who navigates interspecies relationships in claustrophobic extraterrestrial environments with his friends, including Fred the werewolf.

And what happens when you put them all together in a confined space?

Lackey and Martin have created a perfect, witty, fast-paced read that you won’t be able to put down, and will leave you craving more.

About The Authors:

Just named as the 2021 SFWA Grandmaster, Mercedes Lackey is the acclaimed author of over fifty novels and many works of short fiction. In her “spare” time she creates jewelry and is a licensed wild bird rehabilitator. Mercedes lives in Oklahoma with her husband and frequent collaborator, artist Larry Dixon, and their flock of parrots.

More information about Mercedes can be found at:  Mercedes Lackey

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Cody has been living in SW Florida since the mid-90’s. Thus far, he has avoided death by mosquitos, sun poisoning, and Florida drivers, among other things. When he’s not dodging premature death, he occupies his time playing with swords, guns, climbing on tall things, and chained to his computer as a journeyman writer. He has written ten novels, all with his mentor Mercedes Lackey. These include the Secret World Chronicle braided novel series, two entries for SERRAted Edge, an entry for the Exiled Series, and two previous entries in the Reboots series.
