Pre-Order: Sorcerers, Spirits, and Ships (More in Heaven and Earth) by Katherine Gilbert

Posted on July 13, 2021 by Sahara Foley

A budding sorcerer, an ex-cat, and a fake duke take on a series of murderous, ghostly attacks on a retired ocean liner–what could possibly go wrong?

Newly appointed by the Magical Council as the (entirely fake) Duke of Winchester, Armand LeRoy already has his hands full reluctantly learning how to fit in with the wealthy and famous. One last assignment in his old job as an akukar (a fighter of demons and bad magic) doesn’t sound that bad, especially when he’s going to be accompanied by his new love, Annabella.

But when Annabella and Armand reach the Queen Mary, the luxurious former ocean liner now turned into an impressive hotel and museum, they find that the stories of out-of-control ghosts haven’t gone far enough. Terrors are stirring, from the miles of deeply-carpeted hallways and elegant staterooms to the polished-wood floors of the Grand Salon. It seems the spirits are tired of being overlooked–and this time they’re going to have their say in blood.

As the attacks grow more vicious and Annabella starts to be influenced by these voices from the past, can she and Armand fight them with just the help of a solicitor, his now-human ex-dog, Armand’s ex-cat, a strangely-knowing little old lady, and a few others the ship seems to call much too loudly? They’d better, because what’s stirring isn’t human, and, if they lose, they may well find themselves trapped in a timeline which never even happened–or worse.

Sorcerers, Spirits, and Ships is a perfect introduction to the More in Heaven and Earth universe. Old readers will delight in a new outing with Armand and Annabella from Moonlight, Magnolias, and Magic, while new readers can easily enjoy the loads of quirky humor, romance, and chilling suspense of this ghost story meets funny, magical murder mystery.

On a Katherine Gilbert wackiness scale of 1-to-10 sarcastic talking cats*, this one is a 7.

*Warning: Not all stories contain talking cats. Wackiness may take other forms.

Want to be a Beta Reader?

Posted on July 8, 2021 by Sahara Foley

Are you addicted to books?

Can’t wait to get your hands on a newly released story?

Maybe we can help.

Norns is looking for Beta Readers to help us round out our stories and leave reviews on several platforms.  What is a Beta Reader, you ask?

From Wiki: A beta reader is usually a test reader of an unreleased work of literature or other writing, who gives feedback from the point of view of an average reader to the author.   A beta reader is not a professional and can therefore provide advice and comments in the opinions of an average reader. This feedback is used by the writer to fix remaining issues with plot, pacing, and consistency. The beta reader also serves as a sounding board to see if the book has had the intended emotional impact.

Since we have several authors who all write in different genres, you should find a story that fits what you love.  We currently have a new release coming for The Killer on the Heath by Karen J. Mossman and would really love to have some Beta Readers on our team.

A woman is dead, and another is missing. The only person who can save her is Cassie.

With no clues and time running out, her brother, Detective Newbold, desperately needs her help. He is counting on Cassie’s clairvoyant and empathic abilities to locate Chantelle.

When Chantelle’s brother, Pedro, seeks out a psychic for help, he meets and falls for Cassie. Though he wants answers, neither Cassie nor Detective Newbold can give any, which complicates their relationship. To make matters worse, his overbearing mother adds further damage with her meddling.

Meanwhile, the killer has been caught, but he refuses to talk. Now, it’s up to Cassie to read the signs and rescue her lover’s sister.

Will she find the answers in time?

If this sounds like a story you’d enjoy, fill out the form below.  You will be added to our Street Team and expected to read and share your thoughts about the plot, characters, etc.  Once the book has been published, we require that you leave reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, and/or Bookbub.  Amazon is a must.  If you can’t leave reviews on Amazon because of their terms, you won’t be able to join the team.  Sorry.

Lavender Doanhart inherited the gift of magic, like many in the Mage Alliance. Her happy-go-lucky life ends abruptly on Halloween night when a century-old family feud comes to a head, and supernatural forces of light and dark converge on her family’s mansion in Hant Hollow. As a result, the underworld engulfs her sorceress grandmother and mother, dragging them into the abyss. Call it intuition or just plain magic, but Lavender knows her mother is still alive and is willing to sacrifice her soul to save her.

Commander Brody Whitmore has risen through the Mage Alliance’s military ranks, becoming the regent’s right hand. Committed and driven to succeed until the day he meets a stubborn and headstrong witch who consumes his heart and soul. For over a hundred years, Brody and Lavender were inseparable. Then, on the night he decides to propose, the forces of Light and Dark collide in Hant Hollow, thrusting his magical lady into the battle of her life. Heir to the Crown Box Set 1: Books: 1, 2, & 2.5 by [Paul J Bennett]

An old warrior, too stubborn to die. A royal heir, hidden since birth.
Can they save a realm on the brink of war?

Book One: Servant of the Crown

Tragedy tears Gerald’s world apart and only his unwavering loyalty saves him. After serving as a soldier for years, a single act of self-sacrifice thrusts his future into the world of politics

Cut off from all he knows, he becomes no more than a pawn to those in command. Banished with little more than the clothes on his back, he seeks a new purpose, for what is a warrior who has nothing left to fight for?

A fateful meeting with another lost soul unmasks a shocking secret, compelling him to take up the mantle of guardian. Bandits, the Black Hand, and even the king, he battles them all for the future of the realm.

Memories of the past, secrets that shape the future; his adventure is only the beginning.

Book Two: Sword of the Crown

When an invading army crosses the Mercerian border, the only thing standing between victory and defeat is an untried heir to the crown.

Enter Dame Beverly Fitzwilliam, who has trained for this moment since she first held a sword. From her relentless pursuit of knighthood to the day she single-handedly saves the king’s life and earns her spurs, she has searched for someone worthy of her fealty.

By swearing to protect the life of this untried Royal, she undertakes an adventure that will have her travelling across the kingdom fighting desperate battles, all the while surrounded by powerful enemies who conspire to bring down the crown.

Her destiny will be determined in a monumental clash of forces where success can save the kingdom, but failure can only mean certain death.

Book 2.5: Mercerian Tales: Stories of the Past

In a land where true heroism is more likely to be rewarded with accusations of treason, comes a recounting of past adventures by the unsung heroes of the realm.

It all begins innocently enough; a cool night, a warm fire, and finally, a moment to relax after saving the kingdom. Then, one by one they reminisce about the defining moments of their lives.

From meeting a witch willing to sacrifice all in defense of her companions, to the discovery of hereunto unknown creature preying on the hapless villagers of Mattingly, to the act of simply falling off a horse changing the future of the realm, their accounts are spellbinding.

The tales grow with each new chronicler; their past exploits soon to become the stuff legends are made of. Just when it appears the night is over, the final surprising tales unfold, leaving everyone speechless.

Pre-Order: Voice of Darkness: An Epic Fantasy Adventure (Kingdom of Voices Book 1)

Posted on July 3, 2021 by Sahara Foley

Dragonborn magic. A blood-thirsty sorceress. A kingdom on the brink of destruction.

Eryane’s powers as a Voiced One grow stronger every day, but the consequences of breaking the Queen’s laws against magic are becoming deadlier than ever. She yearns to show her best friend Abbott who she really is, even though it could mean her death.

Princess Caryse has had one job her entire life: protect her brother and see him take his throne on his eighteenth birthday. But she’s growing increasingly suspicious of her stepmother, and worries if Queen Arabella will let her brother have his throne at all.

Jerra’s sudden dragonborn powers are worthless to her, a farm girl with no interest in saving the world. The infuriatingly charming Commander Everson wants her to hear out the Queen‘s plea. But when the evil she’s supposed to stop strikes too close to home, she’ll have to decide if these powers are worth dying for.

Each of these women will be tested by magic… but which of them will become the Voice of Darkness?

If you love the worlds of Brandon Sanderson, the biting excitement of Tahereh Mafi, and the twisting, entangled characters of Jennifer L. Armentrout, then you won’t get enough of A.G. Houser’s mythical, breathtaking series!

Sweaty GIF - Sweaty GIFs

The weather has been sweltering for June.  We actually broke a record high of 105.  In the meantime, I’ve done some revamping to my website.  Trying to make it look more ‘professional.’  I redid my Home Page, put my Excalibur series on it’s own page, made a new one for just my stand-alone’s, and re-did the Norns Triad Books.  I’m even doing the layout of my Free eBooks blog differently.  Have you noticed?  Take a gander (I love that word) and let me know what you think.  😁
