My book review of ETERNAL SERVICE: A COLONY Series Paranormal Romance by Regina Morris

Vampires exist among us. They can be your neighbor, your best friend, a teacher for your child, etc. They alter their aged appearance based upon the amount of blood they consume. They move to a new area, drink a lot of blood, and appear young. Slowly they limit their intake of blood and age, right in front of our unsuspecting eyes. After decades, they fake their death, move, and do it over and over again.

Most live quiet lives in an effort to blend in. Some, however, want power and control.

The COLONY is an elite group of vampires sworn to protect the President of the United States from these rogue vampires.

MY REVIEW:

This is another book that’s been on my TBR for a long time. Since 2015, to be exact. Yowsa. I actually started reading the story last year, then it got put aside for other projects. In a way, I’m glad I got to reread parts of the story again. I liked it as much as the first time.

There are tons of vampire stories on Amazon, but Regina Morris put a different spin on their culture. The COLONY is a group of vamps that protect the President of the United States from rogue vampires. They’ve been in service for decades. Most of the Presidents don’t even know they exist. They report to only one person, the Director, a Human named Dixon. When Dixon decides to retire, a hunt for a new Director gets underway. Alex Brenamn is his choice, but she has issues of her own to contend with.

Regina Morris writes very developed characters. The sexual tension between the leader of the COLONY, Raymond and Alex was superb, and it didn’t feel forced or contrived. They each had their pasts to deal with. Raymond, a dead wife he felt responsible for. Alex, an attack and failed relationships. Even the secondary characters were well-rounded out. They weren’t one-demonical at all. I see the next book In the series is based on Sterling, Raymond’s wayward son. That ought to be very interesting.

The story was believable and moved at a fairly decent pace. There’s enough action, drama and romance to please a reader’s soul. At one point, when Alex is trying to save Raymond’s life, I couldn’t read fast enough.

There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the story, other than some editing issues. Like I said, it’s been several years since I bought the book. Maybe it’s been re-edited since then. They weren’t significant, and certainly didn’t take away the enjoyment of reading the story.

As s side note, I really don’t think the cover fits the genre. It doesn’t give the impression of a paranormal story. If it weren’t for the tagline, I would assume it’s just a romance novel.

Regardless, I enjoyed the story and highly recommend it for vampire lovers. I give it 4 fangs.

As I’m sitting at my desk, composing this post, I can’t help but cuss out poor Phil. You know him, don’t you? The rodent that predicted another 6 weeks of winter? Well, guess what? He was RIGHT! I’m going with my two sisters and one of my brothers-in-law. It’s gonna be another vacation full of FIRSTS. Zip-lining, maybe some deep sea fishing, which I’ve wanted to do all my life. Can’t Wait!

WE JOURNEY NO MORE is FINALLY Republished!! YAY!

As many of you noticed, none of the links for my books have worked. I decided to leave Creativia and joined a partnership with two other authors to form Norns Triad Publications. It has been a learning experience and one of the causalities was having two of my books removed by Creativia prematurely. This left me scrambling trying to get them up and published again.

However, it also gave me a reason to revisit my stories and revise them into better versions. Yay for you and me! I also decided to change up some of my covers. Creativia always had awesome covers, but it never hurts to put out fresh ones. And, I always wanted an illustrated cover for We Journey No More. Now, I had the chance to do what I wanted. So I contacted Trevor Wooten from Infinite Creations about illustrated my book. He did a marvelous job. Trevor included every element that I described. Then, I sent it to our amazing book designer, Jessica Tahbonemah with The Magic Quill Graphics. She added her magic touch, and Voila, I introduce you to Dal and his feliza named Nema.

At this time, We Journey No More is only available on Amazon as an ebook & paperback. We’re also going with the larger print paperbacks too. As someone with bad eyesight, I understand the frustration trying to read small font Thank Goodness for ereaders. For some of my followers who use Kindle Unlimited. I’m sorry, but I want to go wide with my books and I’m tired of being under the chokehold of Amazon. Creativia never gave me that option. Norns does. Yay for me again! My next book to be republished is It Lives in the Basement. I’m still debating on whether I want a new cover or not. That one will be followed by The Revenge of Excalibur and The Secret of Excalibur. Then, finally, I can finish the Excalibur saga with Karrin: Warrior Child and Karrin: Warrior Woman. She’s been hounding me like crazy to get published. Sigh!

FEBRUARY 2018 FREE AMAZON EBOOKS FROM CREATIVIA AUTHORS–1st to 28th

Yesterday was Groundhog Day, and, unfortunately, Phil saw his shadow. OH NO!!!! tearing hair out

Even though it hasn’t been that terrible of a winter, snow-wise, frigid temps have hounded us. BRRR! Honestly, we needed the below zero temperatures to help kill off the bug population. Can we say Japanese Beatles? We were swarmed with them last summer due to the warmer winters we’ve had.

Anyway, I digress. I missed my post in the middle of January, partly because I came down with that awful FLU right after the New Year. UGH! It knocked me for a loop. I missed almost a full week of work.

Then, I’m still trying to get my books republished through Norns. I only meant to do some light editing on my older stories, but once I got in them, I realized how much my writing has changed. Well, there’s just no way I could let them go back out on Amazon that way. So, I’ve been doing some major rewriting. Which takes time.

Good news, We Journey No More has gone through its final revisions and is ready to be relaunched. Right now, I’m waiting for a new cover. I hired an illustrator to redo the cover. I’ve seen the rough draft and I can’t wait to see the finished product. I’m hoping to have it up on Amazon by the middle of this month. Then, on all the other books sites by the end of February.

We’re also aiming to have It Lives In The Basement up by the end of February. This one needed a lot of revisions. I’m still in the process of rewriting chapter three. So, lots of fun times ahead.

As for these discounted and free books by Creativia authors. I will keep posting them as long as I have access to the schedules. It looks like Miika has finally heard the complaints from his authors and is discontinuing the FREE ebooks. Rightfully so. People download free books and never read them. At least if they invest some money in the books, they will most likely read them.

Just remember, the discounted books are only for 2 days, not 5. So, if you miss the timeframe, you’ll have to wait another 90 days before it comes back around again.
