I was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, going on to earn a business degree in accounting from City University, NY. Soon after I found myself working in insurance and financing and went on to marry my wonderful husband. We moved to New England.

I have spent thirteen years as a religious education teacher and have lived and worked in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. For the past decade, I have served as a Eucharistic minister at my local Catholic church, bringing the Eucharist to community nursing homes. After raising a family in CT, my husband and I became Florida Residents though continue to spend time in CT where I continue in my ministry

Excalibur Saga Series Back In Kindle Unlimited

Back last year, I think, Julie and I decided to take our books out of Kindle Unlimited and try to go wide. While we did publish some of our other author’s books wide, we never got around to ours. Wide means that we weren’t exclusive to Amazon. That we could upload our books through IngramSparks, who would then distribute our titles through a bigger network of retailers. Well, we found out some hard truths.

At that time, IngramSparks was the only distributor that offered hard cover editions. Since most of our authors write children’s books, we needed those hard covers for their titles. Hence, our reason for going with them. However, they are not easy to work with. You have to upload a different file of one book for each type of cover: eBook, paperback, hard cover. Yikes. It ended up being so time consuming for Julie.

Another hard truth; no matter how much authors HATE Amazon, they are still the biggest retailer for books. And, they don’t charge you money for uploading your files, Or, making any changes to your book AFTER the fact. IngramSparks charges a $50 upload fee for each book, which is $50 for eBook, $50 for paperback, $50 for hard cover. Yikes. Sure, IngramSparks gives you 30 days to make any necessary changes free of charge, however …

What if you want to lower the price of your book, or change the cover, or even the blurb? $50 for each version of your book. Emm. Nope. Let’s not even go into actually getting paid your royalties. No, they were not fun to work with. So back to Amazon we went.

Now, we can run sales, change blurbs, or covers, with no additional fees. Which is great for indie authors who need to test, test, test what works in their genre to sell their books.

I was born to a diplomat and housewife in Tehran-Iran then whisked across the globe to whatever country my parents had been assigned to. Raised to appreciate various cultures, landscapes, languages, and viewpoints, my life was one grand adventure until a revolution took place in my country and turned our lives upside down. Between then and the age of eighteen I had experienced both the joy, freedom, and magic our world offers as well as wars, deprivation, and oppression. My undergraduate studies were in the Middle East and my post graduate studies were at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

So, when did I become a writer? Books had always been my greatest friends, teachers, refuge, and the inspiration to forge my own future. I wanted to share the rich beauty of Persian literature as well as that of other cultures. For that I embarked on a twenty-two-year journey, traveling to various countries, and experiencing life while establishing a successful career. This is my view while sitting at my table on the patio. I love it as it blocks me from other people’s view as they’re strolling by. People have been startled when they realize I’m there. LOL.

The apartment complex I live in has been slowly decaying over the past 13 years. The siding needs cleaned, there are a LOT of bare spots showing through the painted portions on the buildings. It started looking like a slum lord owned the place. They’ve even had issues getting renters as people look at the outside and go, NOPE. If you don’t take care of the outside, what do you do for your tenants.

Well, the owners finally broke down and they are residing and painting the whole complex. YAY! Which means all my lovely flowers and tables will have to come inside when they get to my building. Though, as extensive as the repairs have been, it might not be until fall. Still, I’m looking forward to a fresh looking complex.
