June 2024 Free eBooks – 16th to 30th

The other day, I went to play putt-putt mini golf with my sister and cousin.  Something I hadn’t done in years.  A new mini golf place opened last year so we had to check it out.  It’s called The Fat Putter.  Very apropos for me.   😂🤣

It’s an interactive course where you have do games to see where your first putt starts from.  One was based on the Operations game we grew up with.  Of course, my sister had to check out the skeleton.  Must be from raising 5 boys. 😁🤔

Anyway, we had a good time and intend on going back to try out one of the other courses.  Do you enjoy putt-putt golf?

#Crystals101 – June Crystal Birthstone

Did you know June is the only month that has a birthstone harvested from a living creature?  Yep, we’re talking Pearls.  Pearls are elegant and have always been sought after to complement women’s wardrobes.

Some civilizations thought Pearls were teardrops that fell from heaven.  The Chinese thought they were from the brain of a dragon.  And Christopher Columbus believed they were formed from dew drops inside a mollusk.

Pearls are associated with purity, humility, and innocence.  Which is why Pearls were traditionally given as a wedding gift.

June’s birthstone was also thought to bestow long life and prosperity.  Or to relieve indigestion and hemorrhages.  Or powered Pearl could help improve eyesight, quite nervous tremors, and ease depression.

The most famous Pearl is the La Peregrina, which is the size of a pigeon egg.  It was eventually make into a necklace worn by Elizabeth Taylor.  Yowza!!!

However, like every month, June also has an alternate birthstone.  It’s the Moonstone.

If you’ve every seen a good quality Moonstone, you’ll be captivated by the blue flash that simmers across the stone when you move it.  😍😍

This alternate birthstone has been associated with both the Roman and Greek lunar deities, and Hindu mythology claims it is made of solidified moonbeams. Isn’t that cool?  Moonstone is also thought to bring love, passion and fertility, and great luck.  We all need a little of that in our lives.  Well, maybe not the fertilely if you’re not looking to have kids.  🤣😂

Between the1890’s and 1910s, Moonstone was featured in a lot of fine jewelry.  This Frankish disk brooch from the second half 7th century.  Hmm, not quite my style.

Then, during the ‘flower child’ era, Moonstone made a comeback, and it’s still popular today with the New Age designers.

Personally, I love this crystal when it’s carved into a sphere.  There is also Peach Moonstone and Black Moonstone.  And sometimes, you get a Moonstone combined with the Sunstone so you can see the blue flash of the moon and the yellow flash of the sun.  Quite stunning.

Anyway, this is my month’s lecture on crystal birthstones.  Happy Birthday!!

Featured Free eBook: Spirit of the Dragon (Yokai Calling Book 1) by Erynn Lehtonen

Every dream requires sacrifice.

Once a land blessed by dragons and gods, Seiryuu now relies on elite warriors capable of ripping seismic energy from the earth and shaping infernos for protection against a demonic infestation. Genshu Masanori, an ingenious engineer at only seventeen, could revolutionize the art of war—if his pacifist clan allowed him to train as a warrior.

When Masanori and his twin brother, Hidekazu, witness a kidnapping at the Midsummer festival, Masanori has a chance to prove himself. But the sorcerer responsible defies nature and twists the elements into an unpredictable, terrible power.

If Hidekazu—the scion of the Genshu clan, a master over four elements—can’t touch the sorcerer, how could Masanori?

After the twins’ attempt to rescue a victim goes horribly wrong, Hidekazu and Masanori sign their lives away to the prestigious Tsukiko Academy. In doing so, they break their vows of filial piety, challenge their sibling bond, and ignore the future empress’ warnings about the headmaster and the dark secrets harboured within the school grounds…

The sorcerer drags them into an ancient rivalry between gods. Yumihari teeters on the brink of war, and if the twins do nothing, Seiryuu won’t be in the middle—they will be the target.
