Featured Boxed Set: Sinth Strain: Complete Series Box Set from Prequel To Book Five

Now read the Sinth Strain Series in the order it happened!
Instead of being broken down by couple in each book, read the entire story and events in the sequence they occurred.

Starting with the prequel Sinth Savior (previously only available to newsletter subscribers) learn about Amy’s abduction from Earth by aliens and discover why the Sinth Guardians arrived on Earth … and stayed.

Sinth Savior – Mavin & Amy
Mavin:
I’m assigned as a Guardian to this boring alien planet, watching the ongoing catastrophe unfold as the extraterrestrial contagion wars with the native species …

It’s not like my Sinth Sovereignty superiors can ground me anywhere else in space more apocalyptic, since there’s no cure for the invading disease! With that in mind, I’ll check the feeding stations on Teleplay exactly where and when I want. I won’t go rouge, but it doesn’t have to be all by the book—all the time.

I’ll never get out of here to discover new things if I don’t follow my gut and take some chances. I can’t explain why I feel as though I’m being drawn to this building … as if there’s something demanding my attention and waiting to be discovered.

When I stumble into my first contact with contraband Earth Humans, my premonition makes more sense. But what isn’t as clear, is why despite the Wen virus racing through their bodies, the female of the species calls to me on a primal, almost barbarian level I don’t understand, inspiring instant lust and a desire to claim her.

Also, she appears to see me … even when I’m sure I’ve phased into my own dimension.
After reporting them to their alien protectors the Ashen, can I leave her here to die? Especially if there’s even the remotest possibility she could be my fated mate?

Sinth Seeker – Payak & Teresa
Payak:
When a rogue Sinth Guardian disappears onto planet Earth, I’m not sure if he’s investigating the alien abduction of Humans he discovered or if his message to me meant something more …

Mavin has disappeared, so I make sure I’m first in line, paying tribute to the Ashen aliens who protect the planet Earth where he was last seen. He’s like a brother to me, and after his last punishment by our ruling body the Sinth Sovereignty, he needs to know we all care—so he doesn’t disappear into his personal dimension forever.

What I don’t expect, is to find an Earth female so alluring, it appears she can see right into my dimension. She can see me!

Unfortunately, we’re called in for infectious testing and notified that the Wen virus has appeared on Earth. Now, we’ve been split up and assigned to help find the source of the disease’s arrival. As warriors against what the Humans are calling the Zombie Affliction Contagion, we utilize our dimensional phasing to stop the spread across the globe before it causes an apocalyptic catastrophe.

It’s more important than ever to find out if Human females could be mating compatible, since phasing into our dimension means there’s a chance for their species if we fail to stop the contamination.

Will Teresa let me close enough to test our compatibility? What will it mean for the future of Earth if I fail?

THE REST OF THE BOOKS IN THE SERIES ALSO INCLUDED:
SINTH SOURCE – DESIN & JADE
SINTH SEIZED – TRUS & JEN
SINTH SALVATION – NIKON & LILIBETH
SINTH STALKER – JAXTYN & ZOEY

PLEASE NOTE: This SciFi Romance alien book contains Adult Language and Steamy Adult Bedroom Scenes. It is intended for 18+ Readers & Adults Only.

#SaharasMusings – My Games For 2022

As we slowly roll to the end of the year, I thought I’d share the games I played and completed, or not, for 2022.  I only completed three games, so not much to choose from.  🤣🤣  Here’s the link to my PLAYLIST on YouTube if you want to check them out.

Save 85% on Darkest Dungeon® on Steam

The Darkest Dungeon takes first place.  This was billed as a very hard game to master, and no lie, it was.  I’m not much into dungeon crawlers, but this one had me HOOKED.  I even impressed myself more, as I completed the game on the middle setting.  Even some of the more experienced gaming channels didn’t accomplish that.  So There.  😂😂

50% Queen's Wish: The Conqueror on GOG.com

Second place goes to Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror.  I cut my RPG teeth on Spiderweb games, so when the game went on sale, I had to give it a try. (I seldom pay full price for a game.)  The mechanics and combat style were totally different than any of the other games from Spiderweb.  I liked it.  There is a lot of backstory to the world and people, so lots of reading and quests.  Which I LOVE.  The more quests the better.  LOL.  I’m waiting for the 2nd installment to go on sale on Steam.  Hopefully, I’ll get to it next year.

Save 75% on Vampire's Fall: Origins on Steam

Vampire’s Fall Origins takes third place for the fact it seemed geared to younger gamers and so parts were just, well, lame.  There are two parts to the game.  I completed the first half and started the second part, but just go bored with it.  So I consider it a completed game, as I did finish the main part of the story.  The second half was added later to keep gamers involved.

Below are some of the games I started but didn’t complete and won’t.  Mostly, because I got bored with it, like The Lost Crown: A Ghost Hunting Adventure. One of my YouTube subscribers asked me to play it, so I tried.  It’s a point and click with lots of pointless running around.  You have to keep triggering events to get other parts of the game to open up.

Rant: The Lost Crown: A Ghost Hunting Adventure - YouTube

Low Magic Age is another one with lost of running around.  I don’t mind grinding in a game to level up.  In fact, I like it.  But this game doesn’t have well-defined main quest.  Just lots of minor quests in all the towns.  I need to feel like I’m accomplishing something to continue the  game.

Low Magic Age - Open World Sandbox Fantasy cRPG - YouTube

Then, there’s Avernum IV & V.  Even though I love Spiderweb games, their games can be long, drawn out, and tough trying to figure out how to complete quests.  There are very few of their games I have actually finished.  😁  But they’re a great game to go back to to rekindle the feeling of an old-fashioned RPG game.

Avernum 4 (Game) - Giant Bomb

Save 70% on Avernum 5 on Steam

A game I’m currently playing is Dragon Age Origins and I am in love with it.

Save 75% on Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition on Steam

I’m a huge fane of turn-based combat, which all the above games are except this one.  I’ve tried party based fighting games before but the mechanics always alluded me.  So I took my time and forced myself to learn how to play this type of game.  I’ve drooled over the previews of them because they are so life-life.  I think I got the hang of it now and I’ll be trying The Pillars of Eternity next.

If you’ve played any of these games, let me know what you though. Also, let me know your favorite game for 2022 as I might check it out.

The breathtaking conclusion to the Allaigna’s Song Trilogy

In return home with the ashes of her cousin to prevent yet another war, or worse, an arcane catastrophe to rival that of the legendary Cataclysm.the six years since Allaigna left home, killed her betrothed, and joined the Brandishear Rangers, she has hidden her family name and her ability to sing music into magic. Reviews of Allaigna’s Song: Overture

CC Humphreys, award-winning author of Plague and Shakespeare’s Rebel

Magically unputdownable! JM Landels not only knows her magic, music, and swords, she knows how to weave all these elements into an exciting, enchanting, and uplifting tale. More please!

Grady Harp, San Francisco Review of Books

An immensely satisfying epic. Landels delivers her richly woven story with both grace and ardor as befits the realm of her tale. Yes, the story includes magic, even beyond the quality of the prose, and the loom is elaborated with line drawing illustrations. This is a fine launch for a promised series – one that seems destined to become a standard! Recommended.

Brandon Crilly, BlackGate.com

Elegantly constructed, boasting a subtle and well-thought out magic system based on music, on top of everything else. I’d highly recommend checking it out.

Myst de Vana, Netgalley.com

A compelling coming-of-age story that launches a fantasy trilogy to watch for. JM Landels writes with exquisite effect in this emotionally taut, action-imbued book set in a land that battles to come to terms with different forms of magic. Three intriguing women chart their own paths, creating a weave of intersecting consequences for the heroine. There is no shortage of surprises for the reader, in no small part because the characters in this tale refuse to fit into boxes. Good luck putting Allaigna’s Song: Overture down – I read it in a single sitting.

Sylvia Stopforth, author of Dragon Rock

Author Landels knows her stuff. Whether it’s horses, sword-fighting, or midwifery, the details and descriptions are well-chosen and convincing. And she makes magic out of music … or music out of magic. Either way, it works.

Mel Anastasiou, author of Stella Ryman and the Fairmount Manor Mysteries

From the very first page, JM Landels draws me into Allaigna’s brilliantly observed world, a land rich in conflict and magic. Landels is gifted with storytelling abilities and gives her readers those greatest of rewards, surprise turns and great character growth and transformation. Subtle and powerful, her writing always pleases.

Susan Pieters

Allaigna by JM Landels is satisfying fantasy with the emotional grit and depth that could only be written by a mother of girls. It’s part romance, part step-family dynamics, part magical coming-of age story, braided together in narratives that have distinct yet overlapping points of view.

Amanda Bidnall, author of The West Indian Generation

The fantastic detail of Allaigna’s adventures would’ve been enough to keep me hooked. But it is her spirit, and the emotional history tying her family together, that really makes this an epic.

Alana Krider

For everybody out there who hasn’t been reading it in serialized form in Pulp Literature, do yourself a favour and buy it! Heck, buy it even if you read the serialized version already! It’s that good.

Reviews of Allaigna’s Song: Aria

Alana K, 5-star Goodreads review

As most fantasy fans know, the second novel in a trilogy is often weaker than the first. This book is that rare and happy case of a second novel that’s even better than the first. JM Landels hits the ground running in Aria and never slows down. She draws us in, making us care deeply about her complex and flawed characters, and steeps us in the reality of her world through wonderfully rich and well-chosen details.

Landels’s deft handling of non-linear storytelling from the points of view of Allaigna, her mother Lauresa, and her grandmother Irdaign gives readers the thrill of putting together the pieces of the past to discover the true shape of the present. We’re treated to jaw-dropping moments of understanding, shifting our perceptions of characters and world-changing events, even as we continue to follow Allaigna’s adventures in the present.  And for once, we’re treated to a high fantasy tale that’s about three generations of women.  Aria doesn’t just pass the Bechdel test; it casually stomps it into the ground and strides forward to set a new bar.

Allaigna’s Song: Aria is simply a joy to read; the words seem to flow off the page, making it very difficult to put down. I can’t wait for the final instalment of the trilogy. I need to know what Allaigna does next, and what happens not only to her family and friends, but to the fragile peace in the land of the Ilmar.

Lyz, 5-star Goodreads review

I so enjoyed the first novel in this series, Overture, and have been eagerly waiting for this one to come out. I was not disappointed at all. I was quite the fantasy series buff once upon a time but this is the first saga to grab and keep my attention on a long while. I was a bit worried that I’d have lost many of the threads established in the first book but I jumped right in to this one without any issues. The short recap at the beginning was all I needed to catch up on the plot. Last book I needed to flip back to the Dramatis Personae several times but this round I sailed through. There’s no sophomore novel slump here, Aria keeps you turning pages from beginning to end. Now to find the patience to wait for the last book in the series to be written.

Victoria Lee, Goodreads

I was hooked reading Allaigna’s Song: Aria, the second in a trilogy. I enjoyed the interweaving of the lives and stories of Allaigna, her mother, and her grandmother. Allaigna’s journey is a coming of age tale as she discovers more about her magical singing and the deceptions that exist everywhere in her life. I am looking forward to reading the conclusion to Allaigna’s Song. I highly recommend it!

Short quotes for Allaigna’s Song: Overture

“Loved, no, LOVED it. Superb,” Donna J Saunders

“I love the characters and their stories. I want to read them again and again,” Cathy Levinson

“Beautiful writing and gripping storytelling throughout.”

My Book Review of The Tangled Stars by Edward Willett

DESCRIPTION:

More than a century ago, the network of MASTTs, the space-time tunnels that made interstellar travel possible, violently collapsed, the backlash destroying a lot of the solar system’s space-based infrastructure. Cooper “Coop” Douglas, a thief and conman, is in serious debt to outer-system crime-lord Eric Galioto. While trying to salvage a valuable chunk of a space station destroyed by the backlash, Coop makes a startling discovery: MASTT Primus, the tunnel that used to lead to New Earth, is open again. That raises an intriguing possibility: Coop could flee the solar system and his debt to Galioto and make a new life—and possibly fortune—around another star.

Accompanied by his first mate, the wisecracking, AI-uplifted, genetically modified cat Thibauld, Coop sets out to “liberate” the solar system’s only remaining functioning starship from an Earthside museum, enlisting the help of Laysa Grey, a former-lover-turned-cop on Luna. Along the way, he is pursued by Galioto and dogged by law enforcement and thugs.

And beyond MASTT Primus, the tangled stars await . . .

MY REVIEW:

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and WOW, what a ride.  I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Let’s start with Thibauld, the AI uplifted cat.  Every chapter started with a snippet from his journal and a few had me chuckling.  Willet nailed our perception of the feline species to a T.   He’s my favorite character in the tale.

Then there’s Coop and Laysa.  They are very well-written and developed.  They both have personal growth through out the story as they try to figure out where they stand with each other.  Will they, won’t they?

Galioto plays a perfect villain, though he’s not the only one. Who to trust and who not to?  There’s lots of intrigue and betrayal woven through out the plot.

There were several times while I was reading that I stopped and went, Man, this would make an awesome movie.  I couldn’t help comparing it to several series like Firefly, Voyager, and Sliders.

The only drawback for me were all the side notes the author injected along the way.  I know it’s his writing style, but there were times when a side note took over the scene and totally disrupted the pace of the story.  Some were not even necessary to the furtherance of the plot.

There’s no mention if this is a start of a series, but I hope so as there are a lot of unanswered questions.  I highly recommend this book for lovers of space opera, action and adventure, and readers who are looking for a wonderful story to get lost in.

Reviews of The Extra

“Frankie’s debut is both exciting and fascinating. The crime mystery aspect is equally intriguing. Virtually everything about it reflects the Hollywood of the era. It couldn’t happen anywhere else … it’s like entering a time machine. There’s a heck of a lot to admire in this ongoing saga. Thoroughly entertaining.”Amazing Stories

“Ms. Anastasiou has created some very dynamic and addictive characters. She has me wanting to see more of them.. The switch from a noir-esque mystery to a feel good dramatic closer is quite seamless and puts the reader on a positive tail-spin.” —Cameron Winters

“The style is plain and breezy, concentrating on character and situation, with plenty of humorous touches. What makes it particularly interesting is the matter-of-fact portrayal of 1930s attitudes and behaviour, with the promise of enjoyable Hollywood tidbits to come. I’d say this is an example of seemingly effortless integration of historical research devoid of expository lumps. It strikes me as an enjoyable romp reminiscent of the best of heroine-centred crime/mystery B movies of the era.” – R. Graeme Cameron

“The characters of The Extra will linger in your imagination long after you read the last page of this romp of a mystery. I’ve long been a fan of Mel Anastasiou’s Stella Ryman novellas and was pleased to see that her bright pace, humour, and down-to-earth characters were present in good measure in this full-length novel, too. This isn’t a genre I typically reach for, but I’m glad I did. It was a delightful read.” – Sandra Vander Schaaf author of The Passionate Embrace: Faith, Flesh, and Tango

“I’m thrilled that The Extra will be continued in the future and I can’t wait to follow along. Charming story!” – Brighton Hugg

 Reviews for Anastasiou’s Previous Works

Praise for Mel Anastasiou’s Fairmount Manor Mystery series.

Longlisted for the Leacock Medal for Humour in Literature, and winner of a Literary Titan Award, Mel Anastasiou’s Stella Ryman and the Fairmount Manor Mysteries continues to be a reader favourite.

“Far from simply being Christie-esque, Anastasiou’s protagonist is not only funny but finds the funny in a warehouse of the death expectant.” – Daniel C Goodwin

“Delightfully different, gently humorous exploration of sleuthing with a touch of senior citizen fogginess and intrepid zeal for the quest. Stella’s life is as motivated by her passion as Sherlock Holmes’s ever was and her mental health as dependent on keeping some game afoot. Author Anastasiou paints a respectfully sympathetic picture of the challenges of old folks in a seniors’ home without pulling her punches or passing up a good chuckle by creating a character with enough spunk to carry the reader safely through. I’m not a lover of mysteries as a rule. But I do like to see genuinely novel looks at the human experience through the lens of established genres.” – Lynda Williams, Reality-Skimming Press (5-star review on Goodreads)

“An excellent read, full of colorful characters. Stella Ryman, as a character, is quintessentially heroic — in the classic sense.” – Literary Titan

Praise for Spencer Stevens and the Seven Swans, the Hertfordshire Pub mysteries:

“Take a wry protagonist with a cast of quirky frenemies, add a dash of Wodehousian wit, mix in a mystery that would stump Miss Marple, throw it all through time, and you have the charming and delightful Seven Swans mysteries.” – JM Landels, author of the Allaigna’s Song trilogy.

“These pub mysteries are great reads. Old buildings have souls.”
