My Book Review of The Burning Tree – Power (Part 1): Book 6 of the Post-Apocalyptic Disaster series by Christopher Artinian

MY REVIEW:

As soon as I saw this title had been released, I rushed to download it via Kindle Unlimited.  So far, I’ve enjoyed every book in this series.  This one was no exception. 

The people from Salvation now face the worst winter they’ve ever seen.  As they are recovering from the brutality of a blizzard, bad news arrives at their doorstep. 

As with the other books, there are a myriad of characters, and new ones are added into the mix.  Which can be a bad thing, because it’s hard to remember who everyone is, and they start losing their individuality.  Which means they all start talking the same.   

However, it was nice to see Callie have doubts about herself and the role she plays in Redemption.  She’s actually taken a back-step to give her mother more control, though it’s more for show then anything else.  

But an enemy they knew they’d have to face, eventually, rears it’s ugly head and totally disrupts the world the people of Redemption have been striving for.  Some of them are forced to turn back into the people they were in Salvation to try and get an upper hand.  

As with book 5 of this series, this one isn’t as action-packed at the beginning, but once it starts ramping up, you won’t be able to put it down.  After the ending of this book, I can’t wait to see what happens next.  

If you love dystopian novels with underdogs and villains, you’ll want to read this series.  I give it 4 stars.

I love to weave tales of darkness and light, pushing my characters to the end of themselves. How will they react? Some may fall into evil, spiraling into a never-ending vortex of darkness. Others may walk the line between the realms of darkness and light. Only a few will rise above the chaos. They are the defenders and heroes in the world of shadows, but they, too, wrestle with the shadows surrounding them, trying to lure them down dark alleyways and into the back rooms of iniquity.

My friends always ask me where my tales come from. I guess it comes from years of reading great tales from the likes of Tolkien, Lewis, and so many others. In reality, I don’t have a clue. The stories somehow flow from the unruly characters that beg to be written yet refuse to follow their storylines. Just the way I like it!

Past the shadows, you will find a twist of romance between kings and outcasts, enemies to lovers, and everything in between.

As for me, I started my writing journey during quarantine and haven’t stopped writing since. I am thankful for the writing community and their support and for my family and friends. Yurie Kiri speaks Japanese, English, French and has studied Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish and a smattering of other languages such as Korean and Russian along with binary and hexadecimal machine language. Why? Because if you really want to get to know someone, you need to speak their language no matter if they’re machine or human.

Yurie lived and worked in Asia for decades before recently coming to America. Yurie went on an extensive backroad journey all across the US and Canada. Yurie also sailed (single-handed) from Mexico to the Canadian border, retracing a well-traveled road journey by sea in a small, live-aboard sailboat.

Yurie has been traveling and gathering story ideas from Asia for the Game Series, which covers Japan and other Asian countries, and North America for the Murder and Mystery Series which covers the American Southwest.
