WE JOURNEY NO MORE on Sale for a Limited Time
From July 2nd to July 8th, you can get We Journey No More for 99 cents. Yippee!! So far, out of the stories I’ve published from my late husband’s drafts and outlines, this one was my least favorite. Though, everyone else loves it. It has the best ranking with 45 reviews and a 4.3 star average. Not bad. The few bad reviews it received was due to the fact my OLD publisher kept advertising it as YA, which its not. It has teenagers as the main characters, but there is violence and sexual content not suitable for them. Well, in this day and age, they see everything they want on games and TV/movies. All the 2 & 3 stars mentioned the sex as the reason they didn’t rate it higher.
4 STAR REVIEWS:
Not quite what I was expecting, but still a fantastic novel. There are a few different themes in this one, but one that stood out was the idea of hope and renewed life. I am very glad I decided to read it, not once but twice. It was a perfect escape from the trials of daily life facing me right now. I found it very easy to escape with Janet and Don as they explore the new world that has opened up to them. The story flows well and doesn’t feel like it drags or is slow going. The pace is perfect for a young reader as well as an adult reader. There is a lot in here that any reader would be able to appreciate. It is an easy read and does make readers of all ages sit back and kind of think about how things are and the hope for something new. I know I will be passing this along to some of my friends to read as well.
I was amazed at how good this book actually was! It looked interesting but I expected it to be a teeny bopper book and it truly wasn’t. I enjoyed the plot and the new world was described very nicely. As short as it was the characters were very well developed and seemed real. Great story!
The great thing about fantasy books is that you have to suspend your idea of reality to grasp the author’s intentions. In this case, Sahara Foley designed an entire parallel universe filled with original creatures and two wayward teenagers in a Dodge Dart. Since I typically enjoy stories that take characters on a journey, I was mesmerized from the beginning and glad I picked this book from all the thousands of books available to read on my Kindle. My favorite sentence came near the end but I don’t think that by sharing it I’d spoil anything: “If the human race is going to survive, we have to stop fighting each other over stupid ideas that don’t mean anything and start working together.” Foley writes her dystopian Eden as a place for some sort of hope and renewal and though Jan and Don enjoy running around without their clothes on like modern versions of Adam and Eve, there’s still the problem of Dad, Mike, Mom and a bunch of Skittou. Not to mention the cops. If you like stories about make believe places filled with imaginary characters, you’ll like this adventure about running away from home.
5 STAR REVIEWS:
Loved the storyline about time travel. The main characters were great! Loved the mutated lizard-tigers and the riders. Especially loved the ending!
I kept wondering at the beginning if the characters ages were plot holes (until their youth catches up with them.) I do agree with the other review mentioning how often the characters had sex. It did seem over the top… and then I remembered being seventeen and thought, wellllllll, maybe this is pretty accurate after all. Good story, some interesting moments and it takes on a nice Mad Max feel in the last third of the story. I’d read more from this Sahara Foley in the future.
Loved this story! It was hard to put down. I read it all the way through. Recommend this book to anyone who likes love stories with an extra twist.
Getting stuck in a radioactive, mutant-infested, bleak distant future shouldn’t be this fun, but since I was only reading it, I had a blast! In fact, I was hooked. The story takes off as two youngsters are getting away from home to start a future of their own design, but… fate takes them for a wild spin, showing them that they are not in control after all. Instead of being in control of their world, they must remain in control of themselves. They must show bravery, wit, self-control. This is exemplified in my favorite character, Janet.
The story is exciting. The writing is catchy and funny at times. The characters are cool and just imperfect enough to make make me want to return for what ever is coming next. I mean, there will be a sequel, right?!
I recommend Ms. Foley’s YA novel. It’s fun and clever. A great read.
