Shawn Burgess rocks! I came across the freebie you just posted about 6 months ago on StoryOrigin or Bookfunnel and took a chance on it. Shawn became an immediate favorite horror author for me, putting him right up there with many favorites; Stephen King, Ronald Kelly, Richard Laymon, Tom Deady, Tom Rimer, Matt Ruff, Victor Lavalle, Gemma Amor, John Boden, Scott Thomas (Weird fiction/Fantasy/Horror author not the author of Kill Creek), H.P Lovecraft, William Meikle, Tim Curran, etc.,
And after reading the prequel, Sour Roots, I jumped right into Book 1 of the Return to Grief Hollow series, Tears of Grief Hollow, which was certainly not a Pete and Repeat of Sour Roots, having a completely different storyline more in tone with SK’s IT, Dan Simmons Summer of Night, and Stranger Things. It was just as excellent!
Great to see him get some love here.!
Wow. Thanks for the recommendation and reading my blog. Yeah, we are swapping our books via StoryOrigin, so that’s probably where you found him. I’ve never seen his books on Bookfunnel.
Yes! StoryOrigin! That is where I found it. I always read your newsletters btw!
I hope you find them helpful, and thanks for taking the time to read them. ♥
