Last Saturday, I went with my sister, Debbie to the Nebraska Humane Society and adopted my 2 new family members – Sushie & Oreo. It’s been almost 8 years since I’ve had any fur children.
Oreo is 6 years old and she is the snoopy one. I think she got her name based on the markings on her back legs. LOL. She follows me around but still won’t get up in my lap. She will sleep next to me on the bed or couch, but any fast movements, she’s gone.
Sushie (who I renamed Sammie) is 9 years old and he is a normal tabby looking cat. He does get in my lap, but spooks easier than Oreo.
Both of them had been adopted before and taken back to the Humane Society. This time they have been there since October 2020 & were bonded so I got them both.
This past week they have become friendlier. Oreo still won’t sit in my lap, but she will come to me when she’s ready for petting. A normal cat behavior.
LOL.
They are enjoying the extra room to run around in and places to jump onto. I heard Oreo playing with one the cat toys this morning. It’s taken a while for them to learn how to be playful again. I think they will be happy there.
And, for Christmas, my sisters gave me a cat tree for my new family members. I assembled it in about an hour. However, I wasn’t sure if Sammie and Oreo would like it.
That night I saw both of the sleeping in the beds which made me happy. It’s in my office so they can be near me during the day. I think it’s a hit.
They are adorable! I am so happy for you all <3
Thank you. I know you can’t wait to meet them. 🙂
