AMAZON 5-STAR REVIEW:
Haunted by history with a remarkable salvation!
This is yet another fine work by Kenna McKinnon, which I enjoyed very much! It tells the story of a young wife (Scarlett Kane) and her three year old son (Troy) in 1970s Canada. Scarlett’s husband, Michael, is killed in a motorcycle accident early in the book, but that’s not the end of him. While she and Troy are reeling from the disaster and doing their best to move on, something eerie is happening in the houses where they live. Scratching noises, strange lights, and a likely peeping Tom infect their lives, causing unrest and concern. Michael manifests, and Scarlett must concoct a way to rid herself of his presence. Although she loved him dearly, their marriage was fraught with deception and worse. Her attention must be on saving her son’s life from the reality of the situation. But how?
I enjoyed Scarlett’s group of friends in the small town to which they move. Their conversations are interesting and mostly helpful to the young Canadian widow. But they don’t know what’s really happening! The references to 1970s culture were very interesting as well.
Over a period of years, Scarlett suffers from depression caused by a truly unhelpful psychologist; a stint of alcoholism caused by overwhelming circumstances; a near love affair with a shopkeeper which to his sadness never comes to fruition, and ultimately final success. How? I won’t tell you, but it’s very imaginative!
You won’t believe the ending!
Sahara, thank you so much for the wonderful and unsolicited spotlight on my new “baby”, Ascending, which was released yesterday. You are truly a blessing to other authors and I think publishing Bob’s stories is an act of genuine love and unselfishness. I am sure you feel close to him as each story is polished and unraveled. They are so special. Thank you again for being the unspoiled and caring woman you are! Much love.
You are so welcome, and thank you for your kind words. 🙂
