#SaharasMusings – My Games For 2022

As we slowly roll to the end of the year, I thought I’d share the games I played and completed, or not, for 2022.  I only completed three games, so not much to choose from.  🤣🤣  Here’s the link to my PLAYLIST on YouTube if you want to check them out.

Save 85% on Darkest Dungeon® on Steam

The Darkest Dungeon takes first place.  This was billed as a very hard game to master, and no lie, it was.  I’m not much into dungeon crawlers, but this one had me HOOKED.  I even impressed myself more, as I completed the game on the middle setting.  Even some of the more experienced gaming channels didn’t accomplish that.  So There.  😂😂

50% Queen's Wish: The Conqueror on GOG.com

Second place goes to Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror.  I cut my RPG teeth on Spiderweb games, so when the game went on sale, I had to give it a try. (I seldom pay full price for a game.)  The mechanics and combat style were totally different than any of the other games from Spiderweb.  I liked it.  There is a lot of backstory to the world and people, so lots of reading and quests.  Which I LOVE.  The more quests the better.  LOL.  I’m waiting for the 2nd installment to go on sale on Steam.  Hopefully, I’ll get to it next year.

Save 75% on Vampire's Fall: Origins on Steam

Vampire’s Fall Origins takes third place for the fact it seemed geared to younger gamers and so parts were just, well, lame.  There are two parts to the game.  I completed the first half and started the second part, but just go bored with it.  So I consider it a completed game, as I did finish the main part of the story.  The second half was added later to keep gamers involved.

Below are some of the games I started but didn’t complete and won’t.  Mostly, because I got bored with it, like The Lost Crown: A Ghost Hunting Adventure. One of my YouTube subscribers asked me to play it, so I tried.  It’s a point and click with lots of pointless running around.  You have to keep triggering events to get other parts of the game to open up.

Low Magic Age is another one with lost of running around.  I don’t mind grinding in a game to level up.  In fact, I like it.  But this game doesn’t have well-defined main quest.  Just lots of minor quests in all the towns.  I need to feel like I’m accomplishing something to continue the  game.

Then, there’s Avernum IV & V.  Even though I love Spiderweb games, their games can be long, drawn out, and tough trying to figure out how to complete quests.  There are very few of their games I have actually finished.  😁  But they’re a great game to go back to to rekindle the feeling of an old-fashioned RPG game.

Avernum 4 (Game) - Giant Bomb

Save 70% on Avernum 5 on Steam

A game I’m currently playing is Dragon Age Origins and I am in love with it.

Save 75% on Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition on Steam

I’m a huge fane of turn-based combat, which all the above games are except this one.  I’ve tried party based fighting games before but the mechanics always alluded me.  So I took my time and forced myself to learn how to play this type of game.  I’ve drooled over the previews of them because they are so life-life.  I think I got the hang of it now and I’ll be trying The Pillars of Eternity next.

If you’ve played any of these games, let me know what you though. Also, let me know your favorite game for 2022 as I might check it out.
