Last night I was sitting on my patio, enjoying the heat of the sun and feeding my sparrows. Across from me, on some power lines, sat about four turtle doves. I love my turtle doves. 
Suddenly, a hawk plunged out of the sky, swooped and snatched one of the defenseless birds to the ground behind some garages. All I saw was one wing as it tipped and swung to the ground. Needless to say, the other doves frantically took off and so did my sparrows. After a few minutes, the hawk launched into the air and flew off the north, over my head. It went by so fast I couldn’t see if it had it’s prey clutched in it’s claws. Now, my feeding ground has become a battle ground. Not sure how I feel about that.
