Readers can be fickle. Me included.
On September 8th, I got this 3 star review:
meh
Well that was interesting to say the least. I am not a big horror fan but I do at least know that a good horror should have me quaking in my boots not scratching my head , rolling my eyes and hating the ending. While it’s a decent enough story it is first off short which meant the author wasn’t given a chance to make me believe in the thing in the basement. On the other hand when the detective is there alone?? Yeah I felt it. That’s the thing about this story. There were times when you feel it down to your toes and then other times not so much. It doesn’t help that this group of law enforcement just didn’t do it for me. Parts of the book hook you into the story and the outcome and then it falls flat. The ending just left me deflated. Decent enough read but by no means does this leave me with that scared of the dark feeling this type of read should have.
Then, on the 11th I get a 5 star review all horror writers yearn for:
The stuff that nightmares are made of.
This has to be the most horrifying book I’ve read since The Amityville Horror! Don’t read this if you live alone in an old house that makes creepy noises and for God’s sake, don’t sit on the toilet! I probably won’t sleep for the rest of my life. You’ve been warned!!
Check it out yourself and see which reader you are.
Did you see my review on my blog? I thought better of it than your 3* reviewer!
No, I hadn’t. But I just read it. Thank you so much. 🙂
