New Covers For My Excalibur Saga Series

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m learning about Facebook and Amazon ads.  With our bloated marketplace of books/eBooks, that’s the only way to get a reader’s attention.  There are some amazing covers on Amazon.  And, some not so great.  Which really got me to thinking about my own covers. 

How much more could I sell if they were better? 

So, I finally took the leap and hired a graphic designer.  They aren’t cheap, and that’s why most indie authors stick with below average covers.  Of course, some of them don’t even understand the marketing side of writing anyway.  But, that’s another issue. 

Anyway, the first covers for The Secret of Excalibur and The Revenge of Excalibur came from my publisher at the time – Creativia.  (See above covers)  I loved these covers and thought they were professional.  Well, maybe back when I first published with them they were.  But like everything else in life, book covers change too.

When I left Creativia back in late 2017, I hired a designer to redo books one and two and also design the covers for three and four.  I wanted them branded better than what Creativia did for my first two books in the series.  I hired Jessica, and in her defense, I told her they needed to be done with the same title font as the original covers as I thought they were professional enough.  Boy, was I wrong.  LOL.  But, as a designer, she should’ve told me otherwise.  So, lesson learned. 

I loved these covers and was very proud of them.  But, after showing them to several other costlier designers, I was told they weren’t up to par.  Not even close.  Yikes!  Of course, one of the critics was the designer I finally hired.  LOL. 

I hired Saad Ali from Covers by Creatives. to redesign the covers for my two stand-alone stories.  Since I was very pleased with what he accomplished for them, I went back to him for my series. 

TA-DA! 

I did switch a few of the models out;  same ones, just in different positions.  It’s amazing how the background and the right topography can change the whole vibration of a cover.  WOW!  We had a slight snafu with the 4th cover and once that’s been fixed, I will be running a contest.  So, stay tuned.
