#SaharasMusings – Allie Won’t Submit

Isn’t she GORGEOUS?

A few weeks ago, my sister asked me if I would take in another cat.  Allie had just lost her person and needed a new home.  She’d already been passed around to some other family members, but she just didn’t fit in.  Against my better judgement because I really didn’t want another cat, I said Yes.

I was told she was 9 years-old, though after spending a week with her, I know she’s not.  However, I knew she’d end up in the pound being overlooked by people looking for pets because she was too old.  Everyone wants kittens.  Sigh.

My own Cleo and Sam that I adopted almost 2 years ago spent 10 months in the pen before I found them.  And that was their 3rd time there.  So, that was my deciding factor.

When I adopted Sam and Cleo, I was told they were a bonded pair.  I guess I didn’t fully understand what that meant.  Now, I do.

And it does not include room for another female feline.  Unless, she allows herself to be subdued by a very male cat.  Little did I know they would be like Billy goats butting heads … all … the … time!

It’s been stressful on me, my sweet Cleo, and Allie.  The only one who doesn’t seem to be bothered is Sam.  He’s enjoying intimidating Allie.  But it made me realize that as humans, and animals ourselves, we used to be the same way.

Cavemen would bop females over the head with their clubs and drag them to their caves to breed.  Though, there are still a few nations that treat women that way.  Even here in America, some men think women are inferior and only made for one thing.  You ignorant bastards. You’re just scared of us.  LOL.

But if you think about it, most of the animal kingdom is that way.  My roosters loved jumping on the hens, no matter what they were doing.  The hens would submit, and once the deed was done, which is about a minute for a rooster, they’d ruffle their feathers and go on with peeking for food.  You see the female must always submit to the male.  Unless you’re a Black Widow Spider, I guess.

This is my round-about-way of saying that as much as I want it, I don’t think Allie will fit in my family.  And you women of America?  Count your blessing that you’re living here and not other places that require women to SUBMIT.  So, quite your complaining!

Allie is beautiful – as are your Cleo and Sam. I just adopted a 4 1/2 month old kitten myself, had him for a week, and had to send him to the emergency vet – he’s got an upper respiratory infection, a urinary tract infection, and a stomach infection, so every twelve hours I have to be mean and give him oral medications. Within 2 minutes of the third, he’s in my lap, curled up, purring – quite a lover and a DEFINITE fighter! If I didn’t have him, I would volunteer to take on Allie. Hope you figure it all out!
